School Meal Deliveries: ENDING THURSDAY, JUNE 17th

We are currently offering free school meals to all district residents under the age of 18. The nutritious meals consist of 1 breakfast and 1 lunch for each day of the week, per child. The weeks' worth of meals is delivered to your home on a day and time provided by our Transportation Department. If you would like to receive home meal deliveries, please complete this form. Summer Meal PROGRAM Pickup Schedule

Starting Monday, June 21, 2021

 

The USDA has extended and funded the Seamless Summer Option Waiver, allowing our school district to continue to provide breakfast and lunch to all children in our community, aged 18 or younger, throughout the summer months. Therefore, beginning on Monday, June 21, 2021 and running through Wednesday, September 1, 2021, nutritious meals will be available for pickup from either Ramtown School or Land O'Pines School.

 

The pickup days for both locations will be every Monday and Wednesday between 9:30am - 11:30am. On Monday, 3 days of meals will be available for pickup and on Wednesday, 4 days of meals will be provided. The meals will contain 1 breakfast and 1 lunch, per child, for each day.

 

If you wish to participate and pickup meals this summer, we ask for your partnership in ensuring the appropriate number of meals are available at each location by completing this form:

Free & Reduced School Meals

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) is a federally assisted meal program operating in public and nonprofit private schools and residential child care institutions. It provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to children each school day. Whats for Lunch?

Meal menus can be found on the Nutrislice website and the district/school websites by clicking on the School Menus apple icon. Nutrislice also contains nutritional information, meal pricing and Aramark Education’s contact information. If you have questions pertaining to the school meals, please contact Aramark Food Services at 732-751-2480 ext. 1-7407.

 

Can my student purchase snack each day? Why can't my child buy snacks if he/she has cash?

Yes, snack is available daily in the cafeteria; however, there are times in which your child may not be able to purchase a snack. This is usually a result of a negative balance on the cafeteria account.  No snacks can be purchased if a student has a negative balance on their account, even if the student has cash on hand.  The lunch balance must be paid before snacks can be purchased.

How do I place a food restriction on my student's meal account?

Please contact Aramark Food Services at 732-751-2480 ext. 1-7407 to notify them of the specific food restrictions (e.g. no snacks) you wish to place on your child’s meal account.

 

What if my student has a food allergy?

If your child has an allergy, please contact the Nurse at your child’s school. The school Nurse will work with you and notify the various departments of your child’s allergies.

 

My student is having difficulty remembering their student ID when they are in line purchasing a meal. Is there someone I can contact to assist me?

There are several ways the cafeteria staff can look up (e.g. by name, barcode scan, ID) the student in our Lunch Box system. We suggest you contact the school directly to learn of the lunch room procedures and share your concerns in order for the school administration to assist with this type of concern.

 

How does the cafeteria know my child has provided the correct ID number and/or name and not someone else's?

After a student provides the information, the student's name and school picture is displayed on the cafeteria cashier's screen.  The cashier can immediately determine the correct account is displayed on the screen.  Many of the cafeteria cashiers are veterans and know students both by name and by sight as they see them year after year as they progress through school..

 

How do I add money to my student's lunch account?

To add money to your student's meal account, simply log into your MySchoolBucks account.

 

Can I send in a check to add money to my student's account?

Yes, you can send in a check made payable to Howell Food Services.

 

What is my student's lunch account balance?

To check your student's balance simply log into your MySchoolBucks account.

 

My one student graduated and i would like to place the remaining balance on my other student's meal account. How do I transfer monies between the student accounts?

We are moving or my student graduated from the Howell Schools and we have a balance on our student's meal account. How do we obtain a refund?

Why was my student charged for food when they are receiving free lunch?

The district realizes the rules and requirements can be confusing when your child has qualified for free or reduced meals and charges show up on their lunch accounts.  While the meals are free or reduced to the consumer, they are subsidized by the Federal government, which allows the district to participate in the free/reduced meal program.  In order for the district to receive the subsidy, Federal Law dictates that the district must ensure certain components are served to/taken by your child. Please visit the USDA Nutrition Standards for Schools website for further guidance on what components must be in the meal and communicate the information to your child.  Our food service staff will also do its best to remind the children if a component is missing at checkout.
